Austen Simonsen
Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer

Austen serves as AEM's Chief Operating Officer. Within his role, Austen oversees the day to day operations of the firm including accounting, FP&A, marketing, compliance, business development, and strategy. Austen assists in executing the holistic vision of AEM to our clients, investors, and partners.

Austen brings over twelve years of extensive business acumen. Austen began his career at Goldman Sachs, where he served in a number of leadership roles within their investment banking, asset management, private wealth management, operations, and controllers divisions. Departing Goldman, Austen was asked to join BlackRock as Vice President of Performance for their entire US Private Capital portfolio, including private equity, leveraged debt, performing credit, and special situations investment instruments. Austen has now brought his robust industry and consulting experience to KPMG's Alternative Investment Advisory practice as well as many other top tier organizations, where he delivers high impact, revenue generating, and process optimization solutions to his clients.

Outside of his professional career, Austen dedicates his time to his four children and their various activities. Their weekends are typically filled with football, soccer, lacrosse, tennis, skiing, surfing, boating, or gymnastics. Austen holds a BA in Economics from Loyola Marymount, MBA from USC Marshall, and AI and Machine Learning Certification from Caltech.
